Experience Oman’s natural and cultural treasures to the fullest during this three-day tour, combining exquisite wadis and dramatic canyons, breathtaking mountain views & endless desert sands, historic towns & old forts.
Day 1: Visit the fort and hot springs of Nakhal, a scenic village located in a date plantation. From here we will hike and swim through Wadi Bani Awf canyon, off-roading through the Al Hajar mountains and spending the night at the 1400 meters above sea level on Jebel Shams.
Day 2: In the morning we will drive through Al Hamra, known for its date plantations, and on to the cities of Nizwa and Jabreen. The fort of Jabreen is one of the largest and most impressive of Oman. We will further explore Nizwa, one of the oldest cities of Oman, and visit its souq and large watch-tower. On Friday mornings there is also a goat and cattle market at the Nizwa souq. From Nizwa we will head to Wahiba Sands, a sand dune desert in the Sharqiyah region. Experience desert life through camel riding, dune bashing, star gazing, and watching the sun set & rise at a Bedouin camp in the dunes.
Day 3: After breakfast with the Bedouins and a short drive from Wahiba Sands we find the stunning oasis Wadi Bani Khalid, the best-known wadi of the Sharqiyah region. A well-built path leads into the rocky gorge and to a series of deep, cool pools perfect for a quick dip. Bring your bathing suit and we will spend the afternoon swimming and relaxing in the shade of the date palms.
